To strengthen the position of the local community's products, Yagasu has facilitated to obtain certifications such as from Health Department for hygiene checks, Drug and Food Monitoring Agency (BPOM) for product quality assurance, Muslim Association (MUI) for halal products and other certificates based on request of certain markets. Yagasu also worked with Brawijaya University in order to analyze the nutrition of products and to search any possibility of “poison elements” of each product. To improve the community product quality, Yagasu has worked with national university laboratories and experts to test the materials and production process of community products. Yagasu also received supervisions from Danone Research and Development – Paris for mangrove food products and from Hermes International – Paris for organic “batik” mangroves. With proper control over the integrated processes, the best quality can be guaranteed and stand for long period.
Yagasu has engaged with local, national and international private sector resources to promote to buyers the marketing of community's products produced under environmentally and socially sustainable standards. The activities include:
• Conduct supply chain analyses and identify opportunities for improvement for a range of priority locally available raw materials;
• Supervise the beneficiaries to improve quality products in order to get premium price and sustainable markets;
• Develop marketing partnerships with local, national and international buyers and suppliers
In line with global economy, the community's products will further be developed for export markets. The products from coastal villages hopefully can penetrate not only the local market and but also the global market. This can be done due to the excellent quality, the non-stop capacity to produce all year around, the fast and steady flow of supplies according to market demands and competitive prices. Yagasu has exhibited the organic “batik” mangroves in Paris-France.
