Oyster And Mangrove-based Foods Products Processing Training In Gampong Tibang, Banda Aceh
Yagasu – Yagasu provided training on oyster and mangrove-based food products processing for women in coastal communities in Gampong Tibang, Banda Aceh, on 7 March 2022.
Yagasu’s Social and Business Manager, Jodi Akbar, explained that this program aims to facilitate women in coastal areas in Gampong Tibang training on oyster and mangrove-based foods products processing.
This activity is also one of the of Yagasu’s main vision which is maintaining the sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem by providing new economic resources for coastal communities. By utilizing mangrove resources, coastal communities can improve their entrepreneurial skills.
This program involved 6 Yagasu team members, and 20 women of Gampong Tibang coastal communities.
The training was divided into several sessions. The first session was training on processing oyster into meatball, followed by training on processing Prepat fruit into syrup. The last one is training on processing the Prepat fruit into candy and jam.
The participants were very enthusiastic about this activity, because they had just learned that mangrove fruit (Berembang) could be processed into food (jam, syrup, candy).

The participants were given a chance to practice what the trainers had exemplified. Yagasu hopes that after this training they can start a business utilizing mangrove sources and become a new source of income for them.
